English Queen Anne Flintlock Turn-off Pistol, Thomas Henshaw, London. Circa 1720–1735.

£950    $1,271    €1,112
The early 18th-century flintlock pistol has a rounded lockplate neatly signed “T Henshaw”, the maker recorded as an active London gunmaker of the early Georgian period. Fitted with a 5.5 inch cannon-form screw-off barrel with visible threaded joint at the breech, smooth-bored, and retaining good definition to the baluster ring mouldings.

The pistol has engraved brass mounts, including trigger guard, butt plate, and a shaped wrist escutcheon, all showing attractive early 18th-century engraving.

The walnut grip is well-shaped with correct Queen Anne form and pleasing patination. Action functioning; metal and wood with honest age wear consistent with period.

A strong signature, good screw-off barrel and original brass furniture.

A scarce and genuine example of a Queen Anne pistol by a recognised London maker.

Overall length: 31cm.
