Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A nest of tables consists of a set of small accent tables of diminishing sizes designed to stack neatly one beneath another. Thomas Sheraton first illustrated these space-saving designs in the late eighteenth century, and they gained widespread popularity during the Regency and Victorian eras.

Period nesting tables were typically crafted from fine hardwoods such as mahogany, rosewood, or walnut. Construction features usually include hand-dovetailed joints, thin timber runners fitted into side grooves to facilitate smooth sliding, and slender turned or faux-bamboo legs reinforced with lower stretchers.

Authentic nineteenth-century pieces display signs of hand construction, including uneven wear along the wooden side runners, slight variances in dimensions between the individual tables, original shellac or french polish finishes, and natural timber oxidisation on the underside of the table tops.

A nest of tables works exceptionally well beside an armchair or sofa, providing flexible surface area for drinks or lamps. The individual tables can be clustered together to create a stepped coffee table configuration or distributed around the room when hosting guests.

Maintain mahogany surfaces by dusting regularly with a dry, soft microfiber cloth and applying beeswax every few months to nourish the wood. Keep the furniture away from direct heat sources and strong sunlight to prevent warping and timber fading.
