This Victorian brass door stop or porter dates from around 1880. The piece is made of cast brass with a warm metallic tone, and has been lightly cleaned to reveal a rich aged patina across its surfaces. The design includes a top loop handle with small scroll terminals, a slender tapered vertical stem, and a heavy bell-shaped stepped base decorated with relief scrollwork around the lower circumference. It measures 35 cm high, 13 cm wide and 7 cm deep.
