This Art Deco cocktail drinks tray originates from the 1930 period and serves as an original novelty piece of bar ware. The construction incorporates a combination of glass, chrome, and light brown wood, displaying cream and silver tones across the design. The rectangular form includes fluted wooden side handles, metal borders along the top and bottom edges, and a central illustration depicting two gentlemen leaning against a lamp post inside an eye-shaped border. Normal expected signs of age appear across the surfaces, consistent with vintage use. Measuring 31 cm high, 19 cm wide, and 5 cm deep, this item functions effectively for contemporary entertaining or display. Placement suits a sideboard top or a dedicated home bar setting to enhance the surrounding interior arrangement. The piece integrates easily into domestic spaces as a practical serving accessory or as a decorative item referencing 1930s design aesthetics.

FAQs

During the 1930s, cocktail culture flourished, leading to the creation of whimsical barware. Novelty items often incorporated popular culture motifs, geometric linework, and sleek combinations of glass, chrome, and wood.

Art Deco trays typically feature printed or reverse-etched glass panels, framed with chrome or nickel rims, and accented with wooden side handles or Bakelite fittings.

Authentic pieces generally exhibit period-correct construction such as slotted screws, age-appropriate oxidisation to metal components, and authentic wear to the glass backing rather than modern lacquered finishes.

Place the item flat on a sideboard, drinks cabinet, or coffee table to group vintage glassware, spirits decanters, or small decorative objects.

Wipe the glass surface gently with a soft microfibre cloth and mild glass cleaner, taking care not to submerge the tray in water or allow liquids to seep into the frame joins.
