This George IV mahogany side table dates from circa 1830 in the Regency style. The piece presents a rectangular top with rounded corners and a moulded tabletop edge above a plain frieze, finished in a warm brown timber colour with visible natural grain variations and light surface wear. Four slender turned tapering legs support the structure, terminating in simple turned feet. The table measures 76 cm high, 61 cm wide, and 46 cm deep. In a contemporary interior, this compact table functions effectively in various living spaces. Placed at the end of a sofa, it provides a surface for lamps, books, or drinks. It also suits a hallway for holding daily essentials or serves as a bedside stand in a bedroom. The delicate proportions allow it to fit comfortably into smaller areas while maintaining period character.

George IV period furniture, dating from 1820 to 1830, features clean classical proportions, restrained decoration, and fine timber craftsmanship bridging late Regency and early Victorian design.

Solid mahogany and high-grade mahogany veneers were predominantly used, supported by hand-turned timber legs and traditional joinery such as mortise and tenon joints.

Authentic pieces feature age-appropriate oxidisation to the unpainted undersides, hand-turned leg profiles, period moulding details, and structural timber wear consistent with early 19th-century cabinetmaking.

An antique mahogany side table works effectively as a lamp surface beside modern upholstery, in an entryway as a console, or within a reading corner paired with contemporary lighting.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply clear beeswax polish along the grain once or twice a year, keeping the table away from direct heat radiators and damp conditions.
