This nineteenth-century Victorian walking cane takes the form of a gentleman's library accessory. The piece comprises a silver novelty handle cast as a horse head, a silver collar, and a tapered ebonized wooden shaft in black. Observable details include the 925 R mark near the top, the metallic sheen of the handle, and the slender silhouette of the long stick. Measuring 91 cm high, 8 cm wide, and 3.5 cm deep, the item functions as a traditional walking stick. In a contemporary home, this walking cane stands beside the front door for practical daily use or display. The design suits a hallway stand, a study, or a dedicated collection of historical walking sticks. The accessory brings classic nineteenth-century style to an interior while retaining its original utility.

A 19th-century silver novelty cane is a decorative walking stick featuring a sculpted silver handle, often modeled as an animal head, serving as a fashion accessory and status symbol during the Victorian era.

These walking sticks typically combine cast or repousse silver handles with solid wooden shafts made from ebonised hardwood, rosewood, or malacca, often finished with a silver ferrule.

Authentic pieces generally display silver hallmarks or maker marks stamped near the collar or handle base, alongside natural surface wear on the wooden shaft and base ferrule.

Display the cane vertically inside a hall stick stand or brass umbrella holder, or mount it horizontally on a wall bracket as an equestrian accent.

Clean the wooden shaft using a soft microfibre cloth and natural wax polish, while lightly buffing the silver handle with a silver-impregnated cloth to preserve its original patination.
