We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The George I period, spanning from 1714 to 1727, bridges late seventeenth-century traditions and the evolving Georgian era, typically characterised by robust proportions, understated mouldings, and the transition from walnut to oak and mahogany.

These pieces were predominantly constructed from solid native timber such as oak, featuring traditional joinery including mortise and tenon frames, hand-cut dovetails for drawers, and turned supports.

Authenticity is determined by examining hand-planed surfaces, irregular tool marks, period-appropriate timber shrinkage, original fixings or wrought iron hardware, and consistent patination accumulated over centuries.

Integrating period wooden furniture into modern spaces relies on contrast, pairing the rich patination of early timber against neutral walls, minimalist lighting, or contemporary seating to highlight its sculptural form.

Preservation requires maintaining stable indoor humidity levels away from direct heat sources and sunlight, and periodically applying traditional beeswax to nourish the timber without sealing the pores.
