Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Safety stand rocking horses, also known as glider horses, gained popularity in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Unlike traditional bow rockers, they swing back and forth on a stationary wooden frame using iron swing braces, reducing the risk of tipping over.

Traditional wooden rocking horses were typically hand-carved from softwoods or hardwoods such as pine, lime, or beech. Construction often featured real horsehair for the mane and tail, glass or painted eyes, and iron hardware for the glider mechanism.

Authentic period pieces usually exhibit hand-carved details, visible wood grain or original painted surfaces, natural horsehair fixtures, and cast-iron swing brackets. Marks from traditional joinery and patinated metalwork further indicate period origin.

An antique rocking horse serves as a focal sculptural element in a nursery, hallway, or living space. It complements rustic, country house, or eclectic interiors when placed near a fireplace hearth, in an empty corner, or beside a window.

Keep the wooden structure dusted with a soft, dry cloth and apply a natural beeswax polish periodically to preserve the timber finish. Avoid displaying the item in direct sunlight or damp environments to prevent wood cracking and degradation of natural hair components.
