This early 20th century Syrian games table follows the Moorish Revival style and uses walnut, fruitwood, bone and mother of pearl. The warm brown piece displays intricate geometric mosaic inlay, micro-parquetry, carved horseshoe arch aprons and a spindle gallery. It measures 79 cm high, 60 cm wide and 60 cm deep. Additional details visible include tapering angular feet, patterned borders along the top edge, and inlaid drawer fronts. Placement in an empty corner makes this games table a practical accent for a gentleman's library or a study. The multi-media surface provides a functional display space or a compact playing surface for board games. The intricate woodwork brings rich texture and pattern to traditional or eclectic interiors without overwhelming surrounding furniture. Daily use is supported by the sturdy four-legged base and the lower tier with its own delicate spindle railing.

FAQs

These tables feature complex geometric marquetry and parquetry, often combining bone, mother-of-pearl, and various hardwoods, reflecting Islamic architectural motifs such as horseshoe arches.

Craftsmen typically utilised solid walnut or fruitwoods, embellished with geometric tessellations of bone, mother-of-pearl, ebony, and satinwood.

Authentic pieces display hand-cut micro-mosaic tessellations, natural variations in the inlay materials, and traditional joinery rather than modern synthetic adhesives or printed veneers.

Place the table as a statement accent piece in a study, library, or living room corner, pairing its intricate geometric patterns with neutral soft furnishings to balance visual texture.

Keep the piece away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent wood movement and inlay detachment, and dust gently with a soft dry cloth without using chemical polishes.
