This pair of George III style occasional tables is made from warm brown mahogany with a polished finish. Each table features a flower-shaped top with a scalloped, petal-shaped edge and a moulded pie-crust detail. A turned, baluster-shaped central column supports the top, rising from a tripod base with carved foliate decoration on the knees. The structure continues into cabriole legs that terminate in rounded pad feet. The tables measure 61 cm high, 46 cm wide, and 46 cm deep. These side tables suit placement at the end of a sofa in an English country house interior. They provide practical surface space for lamps or small decorative items while introducing traditional period design to a living room or drawing room setting.

Originating in 18th-century Britain, George III pie-crust tripod tables feature a raised, scalloped edge resembling a pie crust, set upon a central turned column and supported by a three-legged base.

Dense hardwoods such as mahogany or walnut are traditionally favoured for their fine grain, structural strength, and ability to hold crisp, carved details along the pie-crust border and legs.

Authentic period examples generally display hand-carved detailing, dovetail or block joinery beneath the top, irregular hand-planed underside surfaces, and natural wood shrinkage across the grain.

Position them symmetrically at either end of a tailored sofa, use them as elevated bedside tables, or place them in an entryway alcove to host table lamps and decorative objects.

Dust surfaces regularly using a soft microfibre cloth and apply a thin coat of natural beeswax polish annually, keeping the wood away from direct heat sources and excessive moisture.
