A matching pair of side tables originates from England and dates from the 1930 period in the Chippendale Revival style. Both items are constructed from solid mahogany timber showing a warm brown colour with a recently re-polished finish, standing at 54 cm high, 52 cm wide, and 43 cm deep. Rectangular tops include canted corners, slightly raised edges, and square legs joined by pierced X-frame stretchers. Shaped corner brackets sit beneath each top corner, and single drawers appear on the front. Practical proportions allow placement at the end of a sofa or as freestanding lamp tables within an English Country House setting. Excellent overall condition reflects careful maintenance and recent polishing work while retaining the original form and clean structural lines.

Originating in the eighteenth century and revived in subsequent eras, Chippendale style mahogany side tables feature polished hardwoods, tray-edged tops, fretwork or pierced stretchers, and straight square legs.

These tables are constructed using solid or veneered mahogany timber, featuring mortise and tenon joinery, corner spandrel brackets, and pierced X-frame stretchers designed for structural support.

Authentic examples display traditional joinery techniques, natural surface patina, hand-finished edge mouldings, and the characteristic grain density of mahogany.

Positioning a matching pair alongside a central sofa or flanking a bed creates balance while combining traditional timber tones with modern upholstery.

Keep mahogany tables away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent wood movement, and apply a natural beeswax polish along the grain twice yearly.
