CKB Ltd Emporium & Collectables has dated this Willow Pattern Meat Platter to the Victorian era.
An impressive example measuring approximately 44.5 cm (17½ inches) × 35 cm (13¾ inches) and weighing approximately 1,869 grams.
The platter is decorated in the classic Willow pattern, with an extensive chinoiserie landscape depicting pagodas and pavilions, a bridge with figures, river landscape and boat, willow and other trees, together with the distinctive pair of birds in flight.

The decoration has the attractive variations and irregularities associated with early transfer printing, while the substantial earthenware body and underside show characteristic period manufacturing features. The underside is unmarked and has pronounced concentric ridging from manufacture.

Condition: Displays extremely well for its age. There is widespread age-related glaze crazing, minor firing imperfections and speckling, together with wear and small irregularities around the rim commensurate with approximately 180 years of age. There is one fine hairline visible on the reverse, as photographed. No restoration has been identified. Please study the photographs, which form part of the condition report.

A highly decorative and substantial piece of early Victorian blue and white Staffordshire pottery, particularly impressive displayed on a dresser, sideboard or wall.
