This pair of nineteenth-century earthenware meat dishes displays a blue and white transfer-printed Elkington pattern featuring an Asian landscape with pagodas, trees, boats, and figures to the centre. The rims show a fine-edged geometric wave border on an oval shape with scalloped facets, finished in a glossy glaze. One dish exhibits a hairline crack sealed under the glaze alongside overall usage wear. Measuring 28 cm high, 35 cm wide, and 4 cm deep, these serving platters sit well on a sideboard top in an English country house dining room or kitchen. They function practically for serving cold meats or starters, or visually as decorative wall or dresser displays.
