A good original example of an English flintlock box-lock pocket pistol, dating from the Georgian period, circa 1765–1785.
Signed TWIGG LONDON within an engraved oval cartouche to the side plate, surrounded by simple Georgian scrollwork. The pistol is fitted with a turn-off steel cannon barrel retaining London proof marks at the breech and a distinctive star-shaped muzzle, as typically encountered on pocket pistols of this type.
The action incorporates its correct folding concealed trigger and sliding top safety. The engraved cock, brass pan, and frizzen remain present, with a walnut bag-shaped grip typical of London pocket pistols of the period.
An attractive and well-proportioned Georgian pocket pistol by a recognised London maker.
