Imari porcelain is a type of Japanese export porcelain produced in the town of Arita, traditionally characterised by a palette of underglaze cobalt blue, iron red, and gilt highlights.

These pieces are crafted from refined kaolin clay, hand-thrown, fired at high temperatures, and hand-painted using mineral pigments and gold leaf before secondary firing.

Authenticity is determined by examining body impurities, glaze pooling, cobalt iron-spotted undertones, brushstroke spontaneity, and typical foot-ring characteristics from the era.

Antique ceramics add texture and heritage when displayed on plate stands, mounted on walls, or contrasted against minimalist modern cabinetry.

Clean gently with a soft, dry cloth, avoid abrasive detergents or immersion in water, and protect from direct sunlight and drastic temperature fluctuations.
