FAQs

Caryatids originate from ancient Greek architecture, functioning as sculpted female figures serving as architectural supports instead of columns.

These pieces were typically hand-carved from seasoned English oak using traditional gouges, chisels, and hand mallets.

Authentic period pieces exhibit tool marks consistent with hand-working, deep patination, shrinkage cracks, and dense, oxidised timber.

They are often mounted on walls as standalone sculptural artworks or incorporated into custom cabinetry and fireplace surrounds.

Preservation requires dusting with a dry, soft cloth, avoiding liquid polishes, and maintaining stable room humidity to prevent wood splitting.
