Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Imari porcelain is a type of Japanese export porcelain produced in the town of Arita, in the former Hizen Province, and exported from the port of Imari from the late 17th century onwards, traditionally characterised by its distinctive palette of underglaze blue, iron red, and gilt.

These pieces are crafted from high-fired kaolin clay, finished with clear glaze, and hand-painted using cobalt blue for underglaze details, followed by overglaze enamels in iron red, green, and gold highlights fixed with a secondary low-temperature firing.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit age-related wear such as minor enamel rubbing and kiln imperfections, uneven foot rings, subtle variations in hand-painted motifs, and occasionally spurious Chinese reign marks or maker symbols on the unglazed base.

Such pieces can be mounted on a wall bracket as focal art, displayed vertically on a plate stand atop a sideboard, or integrated into a curated gallery wall to introduce rich historical colour and pattern to contemporary spaces.

Maintain the integrity of the piece by dusting gently with a soft, dry cloth, avoiding immersion in water to protect overglaze enamels, and displaying the item away from direct sunlight and areas subject to sudden temperature fluctuations.
