London City Antiques has dated these Japanese Imari Porcelain Plates to the 1900s.

Each plate features a central vase of flowering branches surrounded by panels of chrysanthemums and stylised foliage. The scalloped rims and vibrant hand-painted decoration create a striking display whether used on a dining table, sideboard, cabinet or wall.

Imari wares were produced for both the Japanese domestic market and export trade and became highly fashionable in Europe for their bold colours and intricate decoration. These examples retain excellent colour and would make an attractive addition to any collection of oriental ceramics.
