Description

A fine and decorative group of three fragments of early eighteenth century needlework. The embroidery is beautifully worked on linen, in silk and gold and silver threads. The three panels are all floral in design with the largest having a beautiful metallic fringe. The fragmentary panels are all in excellent condition with no holes and with bright fresh colours. The group have been recently framed as a set with matching mounts and frames. The set have a great decorative appeal with a wonderful period look and are ready to hang. C.1720

A group of three 18th century framed needlework panels, in the Georgian English Country House style, brings historical textile art into an interior. The set consists of linen fragments worked in silk, wool, gold threads and silver threads, mounted in cream pass-partout and light grey wooden frames behind glass. The embroidery features botanical motifs, floral tendrils and a tassel fringe in shades of cream, brown, blue and green. The largest landscape-oriented panel measures 35 cm high by 53 cm wide by 2.5 cm deep, accompanied by two matching vertical panels. Each piece displays fine hand-stitched detailing with bright fresh colours and no visible holes in the fabric. Suitable for modern home placement above a sideboard in a living room, dining room or hallway, the set offers a decorative arrangement ready to hang on a wall.
