Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

FAQs

Maintain the piece by dusting gently with a soft dry cloth, avoiding harsh chemical cleaners or excess moisture, and keeping it away from direct sunlight and extreme humidity fluctuations to prevent the natural material from splitting.

An antique bamboo table works well as an accent piece in eclectic or maximalist schemes, contrasting sharply against minimalist walls or paired with plush contemporary upholstery to add texture and historical interest.

Authenticity is usually indicated by the weight, construction methods using period joinery, natural wear patterns on the lacquer or panels, and the characteristic mottled patination on the genuine bamboo canes rather than modern synthetic replicas.

These pieces typically utilised actual imported bamboo canes, often mottled or stained to resemble tortoiseshell, joined with wooden dowels, glue, and sometimes internal wire supports, frequently featuring lacquer panels or leather tops.

Aesthetic Movement bamboo furniture refers to decorative pieces produced in Europe and America during the late 19th century, heavily influenced by imported Japanese art and design following the opening of trade with Japan.
