Tramp Art Double Picture Frame

£100    $132    €113
Here is a great example of a ''Tramp Art'' double photograph frame.

Tramp Art developed in America from the mid 19th century onwards, its popularity quickly spreading to Europe. Made from easily obtainable spare wood such as cigar boxes, the style is most often defined by a layered chip and notch style of decorative woodworking , often worked at home with a penknife.

An article written in the Pennsylvania Folk Life in 1859 coined the phrase ''Tramp Art'' as it made use on any old scraps of waste wood that could be found lying around. Now it is highly sought after and collected by many.

This frame stands 25cm tall, and 22.5cm wide, with each aperture under glass measuring 13cm by 7.5cm.
