Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Dutch silver table dates to 1880 in the Queen Anne style. The piece uses walnut with a black lacquer finish and polished brass hardware. A raised gallery rim frames the top surface, while a single frieze drawer holds detailed brass handles and an ornate central escutcheon. Cabriole legs curve downward to end in detailed claw and ball feet, and the shaped lower apron features gentle swags. The furniture measures 66 cm high, 75 cm wide, and 53 cm deep. Practical applications place this side table at the end of a sofa or within a gentleman's library. The flat surface and accessible drawer provide functional display and storage space for everyday items in a sitting room or study. The compact proportions allow placement in smaller residential corners while maintaining a formal period silhouette.

FAQs

Originating in late 17th and 18th-century Britain, a silver table was specifically designed to hold and display expensive silver tea services, featuring raised rims to prevent tea sets from sliding off.

These tables were typically crafted from solid or veneered hardwoods such as walnut, mahogany, or oak, often finished with lacquering or ebonising, and fitted with cast brass handles and escutcheons.

Key identification features include a distinctive tray-top gallery or moulded edge, elegant cabriole legs terminating in pad or claw-and-ball feet, hand-dovetailed drawers, and period-appropriate brass hardware.

A black lacquered silver table works well as a side table beside a sofa or accent chair, providing a dark contrast against light neutral walls and pairing seamlessly with modern metallic accents.

Dust the surface regularly using a soft, dry microfibre cloth, avoid using chemical polishes or water, and position the table away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent lacquer lifting.
