These Victorian Gothic Revival pedestals take the form of a pair of painted softwood stands finished in ochre yellow. Each octagonal body displays six recessed lancet arch panels, a moulded foredge, a base with further moulding, and six squat round bun feet at the bottom. The tops are fitted with metal liners in the form of pewter plates stamped "Made in Sheffield". The physical dimensions measure 74 cm high, 37 cm wide, and 37 cm deep. In a modern interior, such plant stands suit an empty corner of a living room, hallway, or study to hold house plants, vases, or sculptural objects.

Gothic Revival pedestals draw inspiration from medieval ecclesiastical architecture, incorporating elements such as pointed lancet arches, traceried panel motifs, and geometric octagonal or hexagonal forms.

These pieces were typically constructed from woods such as oak, pitch pine, or softwood with painted finishes, often featuring zinc, lead, or tin liners designed to catch runoff water from indoor greenery.

Authentic pieces feature period construction details such as hand-cut joinery, hand-carved or molded lancet arch panels, original painted finishes showing natural surface wear, and heavy metal liners fitted into the top.

They can be placed symmetrically on either side of a doorway, mantelpiece, or window, used to display indoor flora, ceramic vases, or sculpted busts to add vertical structure and architectural interest.

Dust the wooden surfaces regularly with a soft, dry cloth and avoid harsh chemical cleaners that could strip original paint. Clean metal liners separately with a damp cloth and dry thoroughly to prevent oxidisation or moisture damage to the underlying wood.
