Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

Ottoman embroideries date back to the height of the Ottoman Empire, where court workshops and domestic artisans produced intricate textiles for interior decoration, royal garments, and ceremonial use.

These pieces typically feature hand-spun silk threads stitched onto a linen or cotton ground fabric, employing specialised needlework techniques such as couching and double-running stitches.

Authenticity is assessed by examining the natural dye palette, the regularity and tension of the hand-stitched silk threads, the weave of the ground fabric, and signs of age-appropriate oxidisation.

Framing the textile behind conservation-grade UV-protective glass allows it to function as a focal point in a contemporary living space while protecting fragile fibres from environmental damage.

Historic silks must be kept out of direct sunlight, maintained at a stable humidity level, and kept free from dust by professional conservators rather than conventional cleaning methods.
