This large nineteenth-century pine cricket table is a traditional rustic farmhouse side table designed in a warm honey colour with visible wood grain. The piece consists of a smooth circular top, three splayed legs, and a triangular undershelf positioned nine inches from the floor, constructed using traditional joinery and planked wood. Surface wear is present across the timber in the form of minor scratches and natural ageing marks. The table stands seventy-six centimetres high with an eighty-two centimetre top diameter. It sits well at the end of a sofa or beside an armchair in a living room, providing a practical surface for a lamp or books alongside a lower tier for storage.

A cricket table is an historic style of British occasional table characterised by its circular top resting on three splayed legs. The three-legged design provided stability on uneven stone or earth floors typical of country cottages and tavern interiors.

Cricket tables were predominantly crafted from native hardwoods and softwoods, including pine, oak, elm, and fruitwood. They feature simple joinery, often incorporating a triangular lower shelf for structural reinforcement and extra storage space.

Authentic 19th-century examples display period construction methods, such as hand-cut joinery, pegged joints, and natural timber shrinkage over time. Look for genuine surface wear, historical tool marks, and age-appropriate patination along the legs and top.

A pine cricket table functions exceptionally well as an occasional side table beside a sofa, an armchair, or in a reading nook. Its compact footprint and warm timber tones add architectural texture and historical character to modern rustic or traditional interiors.

Dust the timber surface regularly with a dry, soft lint-free cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish periodically to nourish the wood finish. Avoid placing the table near direct heat sources or damp areas to prevent warping or cracking.
