This Arts and Crafts circular two-tier side table dates from 1900 and is constructed from oak with a dark brown timber colour. The table stands on four straight tapered legs supporting an undershelf, while the circular top sits above an apron decorated with a cutout pierced spade motif. Surface signs of age include light scuffs and fading to the dark wood finish. The piece measures 70 cm high, 61 cm wide, and 61 cm deep. In a contemporary home, this side table serves as a convenient surface placed at the end of a sofa or beside an armchair in a living room, study, or hallway. The compact two-tier design provides additional display space on the lower shelf for books or small decorative objects while maintaining a small footprint suitable for various interior spaces.

The Arts and Crafts movement emerged in late 19th-century Britain as a reaction against mass industrialisation, emphasising hand craftsmanship, simple utilitarian forms, and natural timber such as solid oak.

Furniture from this era was predominantly crafted from solid oak using traditional joinery, including mortise and tenon joints, tapered legs, and subtle cut-out or carved decorative motifs.

Authentic pieces exhibit clear wood grain, hand-finished surfaces without modern hardware, characteristic geometric or spade cut-out motifs, and aged patina along joint lines.

Pair the dark wood finish with neutral upholstery, contemporary lamps, or minimalist ceramic accessories to create balanced visual contrast in modern living spaces.

Dust regularly using a dry microfibre cloth and apply a natural beeswax polish occasionally to preserve the wood moisture, avoiding direct exposure to radiators or moisture.
