Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

The piece stands at 83 cm wide, 41 cm deep when closed, 82 cm deep when open, and 76 cm high. Placed in a living room, drawing room, or hallway, this games table serves as a functional surface or an ornamental focal point against an empty corner wall. The rich wood veneers, curved silhouette, and intricate decorative inlays provide a refined surface for daily use or display.

FAQs

A marquetry games table is a piece of accent furniture crafted with decorative wood veneers arranged in intricate patterns or imagery, designed specifically for playing cards, chess, or backgammon.

Cabinetmakers traditionally used fine hardwood frameworks, such as walnut or oak, overlaid with exotic wood veneers, rosewood, kingwood, and ebony, complemented by cast brass or gilt-bronze mounts.

Authentic Rococo style pieces feature asymmetrical curves, serpentine profiles, cabriole legs, floral or botanical veneer inlays, and detailed gilt-metal mounts along knees, borders, and feet.

An antique marquetry table serves well as an occasional side table, console, or focal point in a hallway, contrasting effectively against minimalist architectural features and neutral walls.

Wood veneers should be dusted regularly with a soft cloth and conditioned with natural beeswax, while brass mounts should be kept free of harsh chemical cleaners to preserve historic patination.
