This Georgian occasional table is made from red walnut with a warm brown timber colour and stands on turned tapering legs ending in pad feet. The piece features a triangular top with handkerchief drop leaves that revolve to form a circular dining or centre table measuring 112 cm round when extended, and the overall dimensions are 74 cm high, 96 cm wide and 86 cm deep. The surface displays natural grain patterns and light signs of age consistent with country house condition. In a modern interior, this versatile table suits placement in an empty corner as a striking accent piece or functions as a compact centre table in a living room, hallway or study. Its distinctive three-legged profile allows it to fit neatly into smaller spaces while providing an expandable surface for occasional use or display.

Originating in the 18th century, a Georgian drop-leaf table features hinged sections known as leaves that fold down when not in use to conserve floor space.

Cabinetmakers during the George II period predominantly utilised dense timbers such as red walnut and mahogany, constructed with hand-cut joinery, iron drop hinges, and turned legs.

Genuine period examples typically display hand-planed undersides, authentic shrinkage marks, period-correct iron hinges with hand-cut screws, and classic pad or club feet.

A compact drop-leaf table functions effectively as an occasional side table or corner accent, introducing historical timber tones into modern or eclectic living spaces.

Dust regularly with a dry, soft cloth and apply a high-grade beeswax polish annually while maintaining consistent humidity levels away from direct heat sources.
