FAQs

An architectural fragment is a surviving portion of a larger building or furniture piece, often salvaged during restoration or demolition to be repurposed as a decorative object.

These pieces were typically hand-carved from native hardwoods or dense softwoods using traditional chisels, gouges, and hand planes, showcasing the craftsmanship of historical joiners.

Authentic pieces exhibit natural ageing, tool marks consistent with manual carving methods, historical fixings or nail holes, and a dry, unrefined surface patina rather than modern uniform finishes.

These elements can be mounted on a neutral wall as a focal art piece, displayed on a mantelpiece, or integrated into bespoke shelving to add historical texture to modern spaces.

Preserve the wood by keeping it out of direct sunlight and away from extreme humidity fluctuations, gently dusting with a dry microfiber cloth without applying modern polishes or oils.
