Wedgwood Fairyland Lustre and related lustre wares were designed primarily by Daisy Makeig-Jones during the early 20th century, specifically gaining popularity between 1915 and the 1930s for their imaginative designs and iridescent glazes.

Lustre pottery is crafted from fine earthenware or porcelain, painted with metallic oxide pigments, and fired multiple times in a specialised kiln to achieve its characteristic shimmering, iridescent surface finish.

Authentic pieces typically feature official factory backstamps, distinctive painted pattern numbers, and intricate hand-gilt detailing over a high-gloss iridescent glaze unique to the period.

These vibrant decorative objects serve as focal points on sideboards, open shelving, or mantelpieces, contrasting effectively against minimalist backgrounds to highlight their rich colours and craftsmanship.

Dust gently with a soft, dry cloth and avoid harsh chemical cleaners, immersion in water, or abrasive sponges to protect the delicate metallic gilding and iridescent glaze from damage.
