We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Edwardian design, spanning the reign of King Edward VII from 1901 to 1910, is characterised by lighter, more airy proportions compared to heavy Victorian pieces, often incorporating elements of earlier revival styles with refined craftsmanship.

Pieces from this period were typically constructed from cast or tubular brass, often featuring soldered joints, hinged folding mechanisms, and polished or lacquered finishes to prevent oxidisation.

Authentic pieces generally exhibit period-appropriate manufacturing marks such as natural casting flaws, genuine wear to the metal surface, traditional joining techniques, and a deep patina rather than uniform modern lacquering.

This type of functional accessory works well placed beside a reading chair or sofa, introducing metallic warmth and texture while keeping periodicals neatly organised in a living room or study.

Preserve the metal by dusting regularly with a soft, dry cloth and avoiding harsh chemical cleaners or abrasive polishes that can strip the historic patina and protective finish.
