Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This 19th Century Edwardian freestanding brass music and magazine rack brings warmth to a gentleman's library or the end of a sofa. The warm gold metal body comprises a vertical spine with a central loop handle, divided compartments with railed divisions, scrolled side details, and three outsplayed supports terminating in paw feet. Several magazines and books rest within the divided compartments, showing colourful paper covers. Measuring 83 cm high, 47 cm wide, and 47 cm deep, this piece provides practical storage for sheet music or periodicals. The metal construction ensures durability for daily use in a living room, study, or hallway, integrating smoothly with traditional interior schemes.

Originally created in the late 18th century to store sheet music, the Canterbury rack evolved into a decorative freestanding holder used for organising periodicals, newspapers, and modern literature.

Traditional racks were typically constructed from solid brass, cast iron, or mahogany, assembled using brazed joints, turned spindles, and cast decorative features.

Authentic period pieces display natural oxidisation within carved joints, cast metal construction weight, hand-finished seams, and honest wear on the base and feet.

Position the rack beside a armchair, desk, or sofa to hold modern art journals, records, or books while introducing warm metallic tones to the room.

Dust regularly using a soft microfibre cloth and avoid harsh chemical abrasives that can remove natural surface patina or clear protective lacquers.
