Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Chippendale style, popularised in the 18th century by cabinetmaker Thomas Chippendale, features distinct influences from Gothic, Rococo, and Chinese aesthetics, often showcasing intricate carved details and rich timbers.

These pieces are traditionally crafted from dense tropical hardwoods such as mahogany, employing traditional joinery techniques like mortise and tenon, alongside hand-carved fretwork and stretcher bases for structural integrity.

Authenticity is assessed by examining timber age patina, tool marks from hand-working, the type of secondary woods used in construction, and the presence of period-accurate fixings rather than modern screws.

Pairing antique dark wood furniture with neutral modern walls, minimalist lighting, and contemporary textiles creates a balanced interior that highlights the craftsmanship without overwhelming the space.

Preserve the finish by keeping the timber away from direct sunlight and heat sources, dusting regularly with a dry cloth, and occasionally applying traditional beeswax to maintain the moisture and sheen of the wood.
