Art Deco design from the 1920s and 1930s typically features stylised animal forms, sleek geometric lines, and a focus on modern industrial metals such as spelter and bronze.

Pieces from this period frequently utilised spelter, an alloy often given a bronze or patinated finish, mounted on heavy stone bases such as marble or slate to provide stability.

Authentic pieces generally exhibit natural age-related patination, casting seams typical of early manufacturing methods, and heavier marble or slate bases rather than lightweight resin.

They can be used functionally on a bookshelf or desk, or purely as decorative sculptural objects on a mantelpiece or side table to add historical character to a modern scheme.

Dust gently with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid chemical cleaning agents, abrasive materials, or excess moisture, which can damage the delicate patination on the metal and etch the stone base.
