FAQs

Georgian style spans the reigns of the British Georges from 1714 to 1830, characterised by classical proportions, clean lines, and a focus on high-quality imported timbers like mahogany.

Authentic pieces from this period were predominantly crafted from solid mahogany or other dense hardwoods, often featuring hand-cut dovetail joints, pegged construction, and hand-finished surfaces.

Authentication relies on examining the timber grain, tool marks indicating hand-planing, natural oxidisation, patina, and period-appropriate joinery rather than modern fasteners.

This piece works well as a functional centrepiece on a coffee table or sideboard, used to corral smaller decorative objects, candles, or glassware to add warmth and texture.

Preservation requires keeping the wood away from direct sunlight and heat sources, applying occasional microcrystalline wax to nourish the grain, and avoiding excess moisture.
