Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Georgian mahogany jardiniere plant stand brings classic English Country House style to a home. The dark brown timber construction has a clean, polished finish and features a square form with brass drop handles on the sides for lifting. The piece stands securely on four cabriole legs ending in pad feet. Inside the top opening sits a removable metal liner for holding plants. Measuring 49 cm high, 32 cm wide, and 32 cm deep, this jardiniere fits well in a variety of living spaces. In a contemporary interior, it works well placed in a bay window to display potted plants, or positioned in a corner of a living room to add traditional character to the decor.

FAQs

A Georgian mahogany jardiniere typically features high-grade mahogany wood, elegant structural proportions, cabriole or tapered legs, and often includes a removable metal liner to protect the timber from moisture when housing plants or ice.

These pieces were primarily constructed from solid and veneered mahogany, fitted with brass carrying handles or accents, and lined internally with zinc, brass, or lead to make the interior watertight.

Authentic 18th-century pieces display hand-cut joinery, period-correct brass hardware with natural oxidisation, hand-carved leg details such as pad feet, and signs of age-appropriate wear to the timber finish and metal lining.

Position the piece as an accent container for potted orchids or trailing greenery in living areas, or repurpose it as a standalone decorative storage bin in hallway or study settings.

Dust the wood regularly with a soft cloth and apply beeswax periodically along the grain. Ensure the interior metal liner is used for moisture containment to prevent dampness from contacting the exterior mahogany.
