Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This large crucifix dates from the 1930s Art Deco period and originates from France. Constructed from solid oak, the piece displays a warm brown tone with a visible natural grain across the timber surfaces. The wide cross features blocky geometric crossbeams with a raised rectangular block at the top centre, holding a separately carved corpus Christi figure fixed to the vertical beam. The detailed hand-carved figure of Jesus Christ depicts a crown of thorns, draped cloth around the waist, and anatomical ribcage definition, with minor damage including a couple of missing fingers visible on the outstretched hands. Measuring 99 cm high and 75 cm wide, the crucifix is designed for wall mounting in a home today, positioning well above a sideboard, in a hallway, or within a quiet study.

FAQs

Art Deco religious art combines traditional sacred iconography with modern geometric lines, bold proportions, and simplified architectural forms characteristic of the 1920s to 1940s.

Craftspeople commonly used dense hardwoods such as oak, walnut, or lime wood, hand-carving the central figure and mounting it onto a structured timber cross.

Authentic pieces feature chisel marks, natural wood grain variation, appropriate age-related wear around mounting points, and traditional joinery.

Mount the crucifix as a focal architectural piece against a neutral backdrop, or pair it within a curated gallery wall of vintage wooden artifacts and sculptural elements.

Dust regularly with a soft dry cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish annually to nourish the oak grain while avoiding exposure to direct moisture or heat sources.
