C Summers was ten years old when this sampler was completed, probably around 1800-20. Using coloured silks, it includes an alphabet, a band of running foliage, a fruit-laden basket flanked by a pair of birds along with a pair of collared dogs on a horizontal band, below which is added the name and age of its creator. What we love about this particular sampler is its size, a mere 10 x 12 cms.
