FAQs

Treen refers to small, functional or decorative wooden objects made by hand before the era of mass production, valued for their craftsmanship and patination.

Makers typically used dense, hard hardwoods such as boxwood, beech, walnut, or fruitwoods to withstand the pressure required for cracking nuts.

Authenticity is indicated by tool marks, natural wear patterns, deep patination from handling over centuries, and construction methods characteristic of historical turnery.

These tactile wooden objects work well displayed on open shelving, coffee tables, or within cabinets of curiosities to add organic warmth and historical texture.

Keep wooden items out of direct sunlight and away from moisture fluctuations, occasionally applying microcrystalline wax to nourish the grain without damaging the historic finish.
