Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Victorian Rococo Revival jardiniere planter originates from the 19th century and exemplifies the French Chateau style. The piece uses warm brown kingwood veneers enriched with detailed floral marquetry inlays, accented by cast ormolu mounts, a serpentine rim enclosing a green glazed lining, and slender cabriole legs terminating in scrolled feet. A shaped lower undertier with matching floral marquetry mirrors the decorative upper surface, while cast ormolu mounts embellish the shoulders and feet. Measuring 80 cm high, 64 cm wide, and 45 cm deep, this versatile occasional table sits neatly within a bay window or drawing room corner to display trailing house plants, fresh floral arrangements, or decorative objets d'art.

FAQs

A jardiniere table is a decorative indoor planter stand designed in the 18th and 19th centuries to display botanical arrangements while safeguarding timber surfaces with a removable metal liner.

These pieces typically feature exotic timber veneers such as kingwood or tulipwood, intricate floral marquetry inlays, cast gilt-bronze (ormolu) mounts, and a zinc or brass liner inside.

Authentic period pieces display hand-cut timber veneers, naturally patinated gilt-bronze mounts with period thread screws, and evidence of original metal drop-in liners.

Position the piece near natural light source in an entryway, bay window, or alcove, filled with orchids or trailing greenery to add historical contrast to modern decor.

Ensure plant pots rest entirely within the internal metal liner to prevent moisture contact with veneers, clean bronze mounts with a dry soft brush, and treat timber surfaces with beeswax.
