Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This English 1930s Art Deco drinks tray has a chrome surround, streamlined handles, and a mirrored glass base. The rectangular surface displays a black and white checkerboard pattern alternating with floral bouquets and delicate polka dot details, all set within a polished metal frame with curved side handles. Measuring 5 cm high, 42 cm wide, and 36 cm deep, the tray rests on flat bases suitable for placement on furniture surfaces. Today, this piece serves drinks during gatherings or functions as a decorative display for cocktail accessories on a sideboard top. The polished finish and graphic pattern integrate into period or contemporary interior schemes, providing a functional accessory for everyday use or entertaining.

FAQs

Art Deco drinks trays from the 1930s typically feature bold geometric patterns, streamlined metal handles, and decorative glass inserts. Popular design elements include reverse-printed patterns, mirrored surfaces, and polished chrome frames reflecting the modernist aesthetic of the era.

Trays from this era were commonly constructed using nickel or chrome-plated metal frames, fitted with mirrored glass or reverse-painted glass panels, and supported by small wood or bakelite footings.

Authentic pieces often show natural age-related wear such as slight oxidisation on chrome, light foxing to the mirrored glass, and Period-accurate geometric or floral screen printing rather than modern transfer decals.

Position the tray on a sideboard, drinks cabinet, or coffee table to group crystal decanters and glassware, creating a structured focal point that reflects light across the room.

Clean glass surfaces using a damp lint-free cloth, avoiding abrasive cleaners that could damage printed patterns. Wipe metallic handles with a dry microfibre cloth to prevent moisture from seeping behind the glass lining.
