Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This matching pair of solid oak side tables dates from the 1920 English Country period and is finished in a dark brown tone. Each rectangular top sits above two small drawers fitted with round wooden knob handles, detailed with raised mouldings around the drawer fronts. The side supports are joined by a low, gently curved stretcher and rest on flat, rectangular feet. Measuring 71 cm high, 61 cm wide and 33 cm deep, these compact pieces function well as bedside tables, lamp tables, or end-of-sofa tables in a living room, study, or bedroom. Their understated form and traditional timber construction suit both classic and relaxed country house interiors.

FAQs

Traditional oak side tables feature solid wood construction, visible grain patterns, and functional design elements such as low stretchers, trestle bases, or turned legs. They were historically designed to support oil lamps, books, or tea trays alongside seating.

These tables are built primarily from solid oak, featuring hand-fitted joinery such as mortise and tenon joints, dovetail drawer construction, and turned wooden knob handles.

Authentic pieces display natural wear to the base stretchers, historical patina within the wood grain, period-correct drawer joinery, and consistent hand-carved or shaped timber profiles.

A pair of oak side tables works well placed symmetrically at either end of a sofa or utilised as bedside tables in a bedroom, balancing contemporary upholstery with warm timber tones.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a quality beeswax polish periodically along the grain. Keep away from direct heat sources and excess moisture to avoid shrinkage or cracking.
