Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

Produced during the reign of the Hanoverian monarchs between 1714 and 1830, Georgian oak side tables are characterised by functional proportions, understated design, and durable joinery. They typically feature single or multiple drawers and straight or tapered legs designed for practical daily use.

Cabinetmakers utilised solid English oak, assembling components with mortise and tenon joints, hand-cut dovetails for drawer boxes, and timber pegs. Drawer pulls were commonly fashioned from cast brass in teardrop or swan-neck shapes secured with internal nuts.

Authentic pieces display hand-planed timber marks, natural unevenness from wood shrinkage over time, hand-cut dovetail joints, and genuine wear to leg bases and stretchers consistent with age.

Position the table as a hallway console, sofa end table, or nightstand to bring historical texture into contemporary spaces. Pair the raw or waxed timber finish with modern lighting, neutral soft furnishings, or minimalist ceramics.

Dust surfaces regularly with a clean microfibre cloth and apply a beeswax polish periodically to protect the timber surface. Position the table away from direct radiators and extreme moisture changes to prevent timber movement or splitting.
