Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Edwardian mahogany kettle stand in the George III style stands 68.5 cm high, 30.5 cm wide, and 30.5 cm deep. The piece is constructed from dark brown mahogany with a polished finish and brass hardware, featuring a square scalloped gallery top, a pull-out slide with an axe drop handle to the front, square tapered legs with spade feet, and a fretwork X-frame stretcher base. In a modern interior, this compact table functions well as an occasional table, a lamp table, or a bedside table placed in an empty corner or beside seating to hold small decorative items and accessories.

FAQs

A kettle stand, also known as an urn stand, was designed during the eighteenth and early twentieth centuries to hold a hot water tea urn or kettle elevated above a tea table. They typically feature a slide-out tray to place a teapot while filling it and raised gallery rims to prevent items from slipping.

Edwardian kettle stands were predominantly crafted from solid mahogany or mahogany veneers, featuring hand-dovetailed drawers or slides, slender turned or tapered legs, and shaped cross-stretchers for stability.

Authentic Edwardian pieces generally exhibit refined proportions inspired by eighteenth-century Chippendale and Hepplewhite designs. Indicators include clean joinery, period-correct brass hardware, dark natural patination, and functional pull-out candle or teapot slides.

Due to their slender footprint and height, kettle stands function effectively as accent tables in living room alcoves, beside armchairs, or as plant stands in hallways, bridging traditional craftsmanship with contemporary decor.

Maintain the finish by dusting regularly with a soft dry cloth and applying a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year. Keep the piece away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent wood shrinkage, cracking, or fading of the patina.
