An exceptional and large antique Southern Indian marquetry panel c. 1900

This beautifully hand made framed wall panel is of the highest quality, depicting a herd of elephants in a natural forest setting. Made using local exotic timbers, it is a real stand alone work of art which would look fabulous in the right house or possibly in a business or hotel.

Marquetry is the decorative art of applying thin veneers of contrasting timber to a structural substrate to form intricate patterns, landscapes, or figurative scenes. Popular throughout the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, these panels frequently depicted flora, fauna, and architectural views.
