Art Deco trolleys, popularized during the 1920s and 1930s, emphasize clean geometric lines, streamlined forms, and symmetry. They often incorporate rich wood veneers, polished glass inserts, integrated shelving, and subtle metal accents for mobility.

Trolleys from this era were primarily constructed using walnut, mahogany, or oak veneers over solid wood frames. Shelving surfaces frequently featured fitted glass panels to protect the timber, alongside brass or steel wheel castors.

Authentic pieces typically feature original period joinery, natural figure in the wood veneer, aged brass keyholes or hardware, and period-correct castors beneath the base. Look for hand-finished edges and genuine signs of age on metal fittings.

A two-tier trolley functions effectively as an occasional side table beside a sofa or as a dedicated home bar cart in a dining space. Style the upper glass surface with glassware or decanters while utilizing the lower tier for books or accessories.

Clean the timber surfaces using a soft cloth and apply high-quality beeswax sparingly along the grain to maintain the wood finish. Glass inserts should be removed prior to cleaning with non-abrasive glass cleaner to prevent liquid from seeping into the surrounding veneer.
