FAQs

Treen refers to small, hand-crafted functional domestic items made entirely of wood, widely used in households prior to the widespread availability of pewter, ceramics, and mass-produced materials.

Treen platters were typically turned on a lathe from dense native hardwoods such as sycamore, oak, beech, or fruitwoods, chosen for their durability and grain structure.

Authentic examples feature slight asymmetry from timber shrinkage over time, visible hand-lathe turning marks, natural oxidisation, and authentic surface wear consistent with historic culinary use.

Wooden platters serve as decorative accents, functioning as central table trays, display bases for collected objects, or sculptural focal points on sideboards in country and rustic spaces.

Dust regularly with a dry cloth and periodically apply a thin coat of natural beeswax polish, ensuring the wood is kept away from excess moisture, heat sources, and direct sunlight.
