We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian chess tables are specialised occasional furniture pieces produced during the nineteenth century, designed with a decorative inlaid game board integrated into the table top surface.

These tables were typically crafted from fine hardwoods such as rosewood, walnut, or mahogany, with contrasting light and dark timber veneers like boxwood and ebony used for the chessboard inlays.

Authentic Victorian examples display hand-cut timber inlays, hand-turned central columns, natural grain variations, and period-appropriate hand-carved tripod legs rather than modern machine-made joinery.

An antique chess table can function as a decorative accent table beside an armchair in a reading nook, library, or bay window to add warmth and historical contrast to contemporary decor.

Preserve the wood finish by dusting with a dry soft cloth, applying a high-grade beeswax polish sparingly along the grain, and avoiding exposure to direct sunlight or central heating heat sources.
