Gillers Antiques Ltd has dated this Wedgwood Dragon Lustre Bowl to the Edwardian era.
Two long-bodied Eastern dragons in finely engraved matte gold encircle the bowl, framed by a refined Gothic-style gilt border at the rim.
The interior displays warm orange lustre with purplish-red spatter mottling and a fine underglaze crackle network, characteristic of early lustre techniques. Around the sides appear delicate gilt Chinese scholar’s objects including musical instruments, scrolls, vessels and stands, with a richly ornamented central medallion featuring a fantastical creature.
The base is finished in green lustre with a gilt Wedgwood England mark and the pattern number Z4823. A cabinet-size example combining early Z-series rarity, engraved gilding and strong decorative presence.

Condition
A small restored chip to the rim. A small loss of green colouring to the base beneath the glaze from manufacture. Gilding and lustre surfaces remain very well preserved overall.
