Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

During the nineteenth century, Victorian craftspeople drew heavy inspiration from earlier Tudor and Jacobean carved woodwork. Small tripod tables, traditionally used as wine tables or candle stands, were produced with ornate relief carving to serve as decorative occasional furniture in middle-class homes.

These tables were typically crafted from solid English or European oak, chosen for its durability and dense grain. The construction features a central turned column fitted into a three-legged tripod base, often secured with hand-cut dovetail or mortise and tenon joints.

Authentic period pieces exhibit signs of hand-tooling on the underside, dark natural oxidisation within deep carving crevices, and uneven wear consistent with age. Look for original joinery, pegged construction, and timber with an established patina rather than uniform modern stains.

A carved oak table provides warmth and visual contrast when placed alongside modern upholstered seating, such as an armchair or sofa. Position a contemporary table lamp or decorative ceramic vessel on top to bridge historic woodwork with clean-lined interior design.

Dust the surface regularly with a dry, lint-free microfibre cloth, following the natural wood grain. Apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year to nourish the oak and protect the finish, avoiding modern spray polishes containing silicone.
